The Empty Tomb

Easter! Sometimes it is hard to believe even what you have just seen. That was the case for those
who found the empty tomb. They were confused and bewildered as they tried to sort through
what had just taken place. Just when they thought things could not get more complicated, an
angel speaks to them declaring, “He has risen!” It is the declaration of Easter and it is our
declaration as believers!

The Thief

Palm Sunday In all our lives, there have been moments of missed opportunity and moments when opportunity was seized. Truly, the two thieves who shared Golgotha with Jesus are the epitome of both opportunity seized and opportunity missed. Three simple words, “Lord, remember me” led one man to eternity with Christ, while the other suffered the consequences of a life that denied Christ. In truth, this is the decision that faces every human being walking on the face of this earth.

The Crucifixion

The crucifixion of Christ was a brutal event. It was an act of appeasement on Pilot’s part and the result was the suffering and humiliation of the Savior of the world. Each step of Jesus’ punishment was done strategically and with the intent to exact as much pain as humanly possible. Along the way different people are pulled into the fray. An unexpecting bystander is pulled  from the crowd and told to help carry the cross, a thief finds redemption, a mother watches her son be crucified and a Roman Centurion declares, “Surely this man was the Son of God.” Likewise, the crucifixion of Jesus has reached many of us in ways we never expected. What some thought would be the ultimate defeat only led to the greatest victory the world has ever known.

The Towel

Marriage 101: Sexual Intimacy

How good is sex? It is a lot better than good and God gave us this great pleasure to be enjoyed by a husband and wife. The trouble is we never really talk openly about the subject in church. Let’s change that and speak about the need for sexual intimacy in the life of every marriage. During this teaching, parents should note that the topic will be discussed with adults in mind;  therefore, it is suggested that parents give guidance regarding attendance.

Isn’t it amazing how some people will throw away what is most important in life for 30 minutes of passion? It is more amazing the number of people who make themselves vulnerable to this destructive opportunity. What if we could change that? This teaching  addresses the issue by determining boundaries that help protect a marriage from infidelity.

Joshua 24 informs us that we influence the destination of our marriage by the foundation we choose to build it upon. The great thing is that it is never too late to make the right choice.
